70 miLLion LittLe pigs

And so Milenyo huffed and puffed and blowed all of us in back to stone age. It was bright and clear everywhere you look after the winds left, yet when you looked down, it was apparent that everything that was up there hit the ground.. leaves, trunks, galvanized roofs, heck even billboards kissed the pavements. And so once more, we were caught hog-footed by this strong (yet pales in comparison to previous typhoons that we had here in terms of top speed) natural calamity despite the early warning from PAGASA, hitting on our face before we could even yell "not by the hair of my chinny, chin, chin!"

Yun lang. Ikli no.

I Don't Like Tuesdays (may be different next week)

I hate going to work on the first working day coming from a rest day. I'm so sluggish and sleepy (despite getting fairly enough sleep). If there's one thing different from this line of work is that I still get anxious everyday, anticipating another scores of people calling to express their dismay and disdain on our US Telco client's 'poor' service. They really have never been in the Philippines. Anyway, I'm generally OK after the first day, already doing a countdown on the coming rest day. Wakaka.

September is just around the corner. I wish it just stays around the corner for about a year. Wahaha. That can only mean one thing.. cash leak. Don't ask why, the only people who visit here know the reason. Feel free to ask me if you're a newbie here or an outsider of the 'dark circle'. That is why when I went out to the nearby mall to get some money from the ATM (payday), I fought with all my might the urge for the double cheeseburger meal con twister fries. Pinoy waffle is not that bad.

Unfortunately or fortunately, none of those companies which I applied for a position is giving a feeler (maybe they don't 'feel' me). Unfortunately because I am still lukewarm to the idea of staying long in a contact center, and fortunately it's giving me some time and I would be regularized come November time. I'm still not sure of any possible opportunities to move up at my current job (I still have to hurdle regularization metrics, which is not so difficult anyway), but for the mean time I have no choice but to stay put (being jobless at this point in time is out of the option; i like it though). Timing is very critical at this point and I hope come decision time I won't make a mistake. Tumatanda na ako ng walang asenso. Bwahahaha.

Finally, belated happy birthday to all who celebrated their birthdays, and advance happy birthday to those who will celebrate theirs. Labo no. Haha.

standing on the shoulder of giants

two days ago i put up a whole paragraph for my supposed blog entry after over a month only to get damn sleepy, close the IE window and never saved the draft. that's HOW to waste time.

my officemate watched in astonishment a building maintenance staff rappel on the side of a 20+ story building on a sunday morning, doing his routine of cleaning the glass windows during the weekend. he is my batchmate here at work, one of my buddies here actually. to describe him, he's like a spoiled brat who never liked rules and all that, and treats work as some kind of a playground stuff.. but aside from that we get along just fine..

then he came back to his station across mine, told me about the scene, and said he realized how lucky he is doing a job without having to put his limb and life at risk.. albeit said in half-serious tone, and made a resolve made in half-jest to take his job seriously from then on.

moral lesson of the story (really?): aspirations and inspirations aren't the monopoly of the pacquiao's, of the garduce's, of the quigaman's, and whoever else made great by his/her achievement and by the power amplifier ability of media.. one has just to look around (and above) to change his life in a minute..

the next two days, he was absent from work. dunnow why.

by the way, i met and talked with B a little over a week ago (after a long while), grabbed coffee and caught up with each other briefly.. we also talked about work, and it seems like i can still pursue a career which could justify my ill-chosen profession (while B is contemplating on shifting to my line of work. ayus), and my current occupation would really help me do that.. and so my scheme is still on track after all.. Am I Sykes?

First things first. I made a shameful mistake on a previous entry. Instead of the word 'taught', I used 'thought'. Nice.

I just finished my first week on my new job, though we aren't really on the job yet (paid nonetheless). Training (core skills and product) will last for about a month and a half, I think. Assesment examination (written and mock call) is on Friday next week. Good luck to me and my batchmates.

If things go well, then I'll be an agent. From manufacturing process engineer to a contact center technical support representative. Leap of faith? More like a leap of urgency to me a few weeks back. But the way I am seeing it right now, I think I can somehow draw up a sketch of a vision for my career. And most probably, it is not what you're thinking.

It's quite (I almost typed 'quiet') fortunate for me that my batchmates are a cool bunch, none of the 'kupaloid' types, if you know what I mean. Seven of us reside in Cavite, so that solves the problem of a boring trip back home at the end of the day. I wish at that after the training and endorsement to assigned teams, we would still have the same schedule on the same office site. Better yet, we get to be on the same team.

With that, let's play DoTA! Harharhar.

isang oras ko to ginawa?!

It's ten fifty something in the evening (GMT+8), and I was contemplating whether to brush my teeth, fix my slimy self, or stay longer in front of the tireless woot factory (my PC, that is).. well.. I preferred to stay slimy a little bit longer.. besides, my appointment for tomorrow morning is quite late at 11:30 AM..

I never expected myself to go this far applying in this company which is considered a pioneer in its industry.. for the sake of anonimity and reasons of my security, I will just call it by the name 'Sykes.' I'm still not sure though if what I consider 'far' is really far.. I mean, I didn't get to see how other applicants fared, but considering my English communication skills, I think I fooled those HR dudes big time..

quote for the day: "taena, nakakatuyo ng labi makipagusap ng ingles.." so there.

In case things go out hand (meaning, I get hired by this company which let's just call by the name 'Sykes'), it would be a disastrous deviation from my plans to either try my luck in the city of Simba, or to penetrate the semicon industry.. and if ever that's the case, I can't complain really since the more time passes, the more my reserved resources deplete, the more my folks would start to take a second look at my pensionado demeanor at home.. ehehe..

C and I have just concluded another one of those skirmishes today, on our 16th month.. no, we are not in a love-hate loop, but definitely a seven year age difference can sometimes make us fall into the dent created by that gap.. it's something we can't take away, but something to live with.. someday we'll get to the point where both our feet will be big enough not to get caught in the dent.. besides, life is extremely fast nowadays, it'll be stupid not to wait for that to happen. cheers to us (google advertisement below: foot grower).

Holy Bum

i knew it was on the browser.. Opera doesn't show the compose mode in the create post section of blogger. so?

Some people write well. some people write well fast. some people just write fast. me? heavens, hundred sentences have been typed, erased, and retyped before i come up with the final one that best represents my thought. and it is very evident on my keyboard, wherein the backspace key is permanently semi-buried to its slot.. di ba theyie.. call it anything, but i'm kinda picky with my choice of words.. and at the end of the day of abusing the poor backspace and delete keys, i would finally retort "ay, parang mali.." PS. thanks to manang and linus for saying that i'm good at this, i hope someday i could get rich doing my good stuff.. harhar.

About a good 12 years ago or so (not friggin' sure), television during the holy week was like the bible on stage.. from genesis to moses to samson and delilah to the nails of the cross.. while radio was spamming mary magdalene's famous piece 'i don't know how to love him' from the musical Jesus Christ Superstar.. nowadays? it's all like a pretty normal weekend.. just my observation.. but there's some interesting new stuff on TV like documentaries on the bible code (kinda old actually) and about the papal elections.. such topics where one could also relate to his faith and beliefs.. me? i watched Hamtaro and Doraemon..

Yes, people of the world, yours truly is still part of the statistics.. the unemployed, that is.. i do hope could find something where i could exploit my strengths (if there's any) and at the same time, at a certain extent, put into use what my degree taught me.. sayang e.. it's hard to be choosy nowadays, but i believe i do have a choice.. it's just a matter of finding it..

NOT DEAD YET.

I posted just for the sake of keeping this out of the rut. For a while, at least.

I will not go through the customary 'the year that was' theme, it's simply too late. Heck, I heard someone counting down for the next christmas. Amfufu. Here's something.. some members of the (un)fortune telling industry are saying that one should carefully observe the first twelve days of the year, as this will be the overview of your entire year, according to them 'non-prophet' organization hotshots. Omigawd, I thought none could be worse than 2005. I was grumpy the first twelve days. /swt

Ah, our friends who turned even steven 28 treated us to a sumptuous (what's better than a freebie) meal of pizza, spag (with humongous meatballs), and 'lucky me pancit canton' at Yellow Cab in Las Pinas, and a caffeine perk shot at nearby Figaro's (dami tao sa istarbaks amps, ung isang chiks dun pa nag-aaral taena di ba sya marunong magtimpla ng kape sa bahay, tragis.. oh). That was last last saturday, the 7th, after waiting for them (tambay sa kanto) for almost an hour since they played badminton earlier. That justifies my 2nd slice of pizza (18" slice = huge).

2006.. I'm turning 29, dammit. Twenty nine, underachiever, and growing roots. Translate the last phrase in Tagalog. At least I got a (cheap) MP3 player as a finalist's prize in a technical paper symposium here at work. A speck of a gem in a rough rough year.

Sana magkabroadband na ako magmura ang broadband, mga PhP 699 na lang, pede na.

Hay naku.
