my officemate watched in astonishment a building maintenance staff rappel on the side of a 20+ story building on a sunday morning, doing his routine of cleaning the glass windows during the weekend. he is my batchmate here at work, one of my buddies here actually. to describe him, he's like a spoiled brat who never liked rules and all that, and treats work as some kind of a playground stuff.. but aside from that we get along just fine..
then he came back to his station across mine, told me about the scene, and said he realized how lucky he is doing a job without having to put his limb and life at risk.. albeit said in half-serious tone, and made a resolve made in half-jest to take his job seriously from then on.
moral lesson of the story (really?): aspirations and inspirations aren't the monopoly of the pacquiao's, of the garduce's, of the quigaman's, and whoever else made great by his/her achievement and by the power amplifier ability of media.. one has just to look around (and above) to change his life in a minute..
the next two days, he was absent from work. dunnow why.
by the way, i met and talked with B a little over a week ago (after a long while), grabbed coffee and caught up with each other briefly.. we also talked about work, and it seems like i can still pursue a career which could justify my ill-chosen profession (while B is contemplating on shifting to my line of work. ayus), and my current occupation would really help me do that.. and so my scheme is still on track after all..
