Twisted Christmas

If you like your ambient sound for the holidays wild and 'twisted', you might want to get your hands on this Christmas album from the US heavy metal group Twisted Sister.

'A Twisted Christmas' was released on October 2006, and it features classic Christmas songs performed in heavy metal versions. Well what can you expect. Although arrangements for all of the songs are typically, well, heavy, listeners would not help but appreciate the faithfulness of the vocal approach and melody to the original versions. All this peppered with TS's no-nonsense approach to metal created a whole new way to enjoy your favorite Holiday tunes.

Tracks included are the following Yuletide classics:

1. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
2. Oh Come All Ye Faithful
3. White Christmas
4. I'll Be Home for Christmas
5. Silver Bells
6. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
7. Let It Snow
8. Deck the Halls
9. The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)
10. Heavy Metal Christmas (The Twelve Days of Christmas)
11. Bonus Track: We Wish You a Twisted Christmas (parody/remake of We Wish You a Merry Christmas)

Albeit all tracks are full of fun, I personally enjoyed the most tracks numbers 1, 2, 8, and 9 (actually my favorite Christmas song). This would be a great present for all your head-banging friends and loved ones out there.

Conversations (A Repost)

I coined up and posted this one some two years back and I still find myself smiling silly when reading this. So in tribute to my idle mind, I am reposting this magnificent piece of rubbish with a hastily made illustration. In short, a cheap blog filler. Bwahahaha.

Anu kaya kung makasalubong ko sa kanto namin si Obi Wan 'Ben' Kenobi..

L: Nice to meet you Sir Jedi Master Ben. Well.. may the Force be with you.

O: The Force will be with you, always.

L: What's with this Force anyway..

O: The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.

L: Wow. Can I be so lucky enough to utilize this Force, too?

O: In my experience, there's no such thing as luck.

L: (Amps. Antipatiko to a)

O: That's your uncle talking.

L: I'm sorry. (How the hell?) Anyway, I understand you had been well traveled all throughout the galaxy, do you have any favorite spot which you would like to visit again?

O: Mos Eisley spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

L: We? Wut.. I mean you don't wanna bring me there, do you? I know you're a great Jedi, but you're aging, how am I suppose to even get out of there alive?!

O: Use the Force, Luke!

L: Luke?! I'm Lon, I'm not Luke.. you gotta be mistaken, mister Jedi Master..

O: (Handing Lonix something)

L: What's this?

O: I have something here for you. Your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough, but your uncle wouldn't allow it. He feared you might follow old Obi-Wan on some damn fool idealistic crusade like your father did. It's your father's lightsaber. This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or as random as a blaster, but an elegant weapon for a more civilized age. For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times, before the Empire.

L: Great. First you called me Luke. Then my father's a Jedi. Now you're giving me a.. flashlight? OK, wise one.. can the Force tell me where my father is, huh?!

O: A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil, helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi knights. He betrayed and murdered your father.

L: Nampucha?! You're out of your mind old man, I'm outta here.. I've got work tomorrow and it's late. See, the moon's up already..

O: That's no moon. It's a space station.

Amfs. Wag na lang.

One Down; Three To Go. Demmit.

My oh my, never thought I'd fill this page up right before the year ends; so I guess there is an opportunity for everything no matter what. Sure gives me hope. Ahaha.

So what transpired to turn my attention here.. well, I have finished catching up with previous Naruto episodes (praise Thee for YouTube and MSN Groups), and also my academy training (1 of 4) has come to a conclusion. That gives me plenty of Internet spare time.

Now what should I blabber about?

Much has been said and written and blogged about recent events, so I don't want to throw in my take on them whatsoever. It might seem to look like letting out your rant would free your soul of burden, but to me blurting out without being able to do something about it is worse than a sleepless night's headache. That is called Pain.

As mentioned, I am through with the first part of my CCNA training, leaving three more courses to go. My time line for my ultimate goal of world domination (sori, kakabasa ng Naruto at kung anu ano pa..) hit a snag though, since it appears no reputable school is offering the second course this holiday season. I'll just consider it as 'sembreak' but there is really nothing better to do. Now suddenly time is gold for me, how about it as a sign of accumulating wisdom, ahaha.

Alright, alright, I have to admit I am not getting young and I'm beginning to be a quintessential underachiever, so I have to accomplish some things at a pace faster than that of a preening teener. But I'm not yet in a haste, no matter how those 'boot camps' sound really good with the promise of passing the cert exam by completing all four courses in five days time. It's not too late for me, I believe. As mentioned above, there is an opportunity for everything no matter what.

I believe Mr. A. Rose when he says 'all you need is just a little patience.' I guess I've just made my age obvious.

Happy holidays everyone!

X is not always equal to 2

Going back to the days where I was just beginning to understand how life as it is now, I may say that I have not a few times made regrettable decisions. Of course it is always nasa huli ang pagisisisi. It is a fact. No matter how proactive (not the anti pimple crap) your approach in life is, we are just flesh and blood and soul. Life is not entirely made of numbers, so a calculated approach is just.. calculated. You can just create a hypothetical equation and hopefully the variables would have a value that would result in something that you want the equation to end up. In other words, be wise, think long term, and consider all possible values of your personal variables. Ayos di ba.

Starting next month I will take up Module 1 of the Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) course, most likely at the Mapua Information Technology Center (MITC) in Makati. I consider it as a personal "software" upgrade so that I can pursue a career with the telecoms industry or with the IT/telecoms hardware field. Singapore? Who knows.. If there is one thing that I like being in this current job, it has made me realize that things don't just fall into place for you; you should plan and think ahead and arrange every piece of the puzzle. Think brick game.

Advanced merry christmas to all.. =)

Bear it and grin..

I was contemplating on doing three different things about half an hour ago after I watched The Matrix from a 12-in-1 DVD that I bought I think a month ago already. I ended up with this. If you're going to ask what was the other two.. well.. first, was to continue watching stuff from the disc (The Matrix: Reloaded.. my oh my, how did you guess); and the other one was to create C. her own Friendster account and pretend to be her by adding up her online friends (people whom I know also from her/my former workplace). I tend to be nonsensical at times so just bear it and grin (or was it 'grin and bear it?'). Whatever. Do not grin if you want to..

It's been a week and the event that I am waiting for (work related) is not happening yet despite the unexpected positive feedback from all over the place at the office (which kinda surprised me, for some reason I will just keep on my own). It's not something really big, but at least it'll free me from front line job which I'd like to happen NOW. Well, again, I will just keep my fingers crossed (as always) and will keep into mind Count Dooku's famous line from Star Wars Episode 2: "Patience, patience, she will die".

Before The Matrix, I also watched 'Curse of the Golden Flower'. It sucks big time, though one thing I noticed is that Gong Li is very effective playing as a flirt (she does also on Miami Vice seducing the character of Colin Farrel). Must be her face. I need to sleep, Li is waiting for me in my dreams. Haha!

Craving For Giniling

As always during my day off from work, I spent my late afternoon yesterday inside the nearby mall to cool my heels (umulan nga, pero lalong uminit) and at the same time check out what's new on all my favorite window / rack shopping stores. Of course this includes the record bar (naghahanap ng titles na mada-download. haha). Along the way I noticed this brownish / grayish (can't exactly remember) CD packaging entitled Giniling Festival. I said "what the.." another one of those one-hit 'wanderers?' I didn't bother to check, as what I actually thought was that it looks like another Brownmanesque outfit, so no thanks; and then I walked back home (malapit na magsimula 24 Oras).

Earlier this morning while browsing through some files, what do you know, my sis got Giniling Festival MP3s in her file folder and so I checked it out of course. Well, not bad. They play loud and heavy, but the lyrics isn't. Think of Parokya Ni Edgar's 'The Order Taker' and Da Pulis' 'Mukhang Paa'. Kinda entertaining, specially the ditty (and I think their first single and video) 'Psycho Siya'. Now try singing the following lyrics to the tune of the opening song of the Japanese mecha TV show 'Bioman':

Psycho Siya (Giniling Festival)

Umuwi akong putok ang labi, umiiyak at may pasa
Ginulpi ako at binugbog ng aking syota
Sobra na, hayop sya
.
Naglalakad ako nang may nakitang babae
Nakatingin sa akin, nagbigay ng flying kiss
Sinalo ko at kumindat pabalik
Di ko alam nasa likod ko’ng gilfriend ko

[Chorus]
Sampal at dagok, flying kick at batok

[repeat Chorus]

[repeat Chorus]

Mahal ko sya kahit psycho sya
Mahal ko sya dahil psycho sya

Other tracks that I found here are 'Holdap', 'Hari ng Metal', 'Letter to Angelina Jolie' (which samples that naughty twisted lyrics of the French song 'Angelina'), 'Mabuhay Ang Lahat Ng Single', 'Siling Giniling', and 'Tsong'. For more info regarding the band and to see how they look like too, you can check the following links:

and they also have a music video for 'Psycho Siya', you can check it out on You Tube.

I know they have been around, but unfortunately for me, I'm not. Haha. I just hope they keep the way they sound for the coming years, it's their edge given the number of current bands afloat nowadays which sadly sound all the same to my ears.

Yo Ho

Now this is something I can't quit for the rest of my life.. writing (rather typing) my thoughts which could I could never perfectly.. uhm.. elaborate? No, that's not the word.. someone please shoot me a message if you manage to see it from the tip of my tongue..

Anyway.. what catalyst brings me back here.. actually I was planning on resuming this endeavor (as you might have noticed whoever lost spirit you are that I was somehow gradually reinventing the looks of this page) but without a definite commitment from my brain which is daily being tortured by some people from the other side of the world. I wish I was Davey Jones who could turn them into a bunch of walking undead squids.

Speaking of Mr Jones (shalala lalala), I recently saw the third installment of Pirates of the Carribean (as everybody most probably did). It was okay, if I am to rate all the Pirates movies, the first one would be top on my list and the second is last; that is in terms of fun factor. Regarding 'At World's End,' what caught my attention is how it captured the grim.. uhm.. faith of Lord Beckett's prey of his pirates witch hunt. Pirates / pirates sympathizers falling in line waiting their turn to see the hangman; then suddenly a boy which is waiting for his turn on the rope, begin uttering the pirate song, then the man beside him started to sing as well, until all the rest of the prisoners on the line are chanting their last hurrah before facing death. The scene and the sober melody of the song projects a serious and dark theme.. in which the movie is not. Curiously I searched for the lyrics and I found it from this website, and I pasted below:

YO HO (A PIRATE'S LIFE FOR ME)
Lyrics by Xavier Atencio and music by George Bruns

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot,
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We extort, we pilfer, we filch, and sack,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Maraud and embezzle, and even high-jack,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We kindle and char, inflame and ignite,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We burn up the city, we're really a fright,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.

We're rascals, scoundrels, villans, and knaves,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We're devils and black sheep, really bad eggs,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.

Aren't the words nice? Yo ho!
